The Match We've Been Waiting For

No, this isn't another article about the Alexander Gustafson and Jon Jones rematch. Instead I am turning my attention to the heavyweight division, in which rumor has it a Roy Nelson vs Mark Hunt fight is in the works.

Appropriately the match will take place in Japan. A country in which both their personalities and fighting style will be appreciated. Heavyweights with knockout power are main draws for Japanese audiences, not to mention their affinity for Hunt during his Pride days.

Mark Hunt is coming off one of if not the best heavyweight fight in the UFC, a five round war against Antonio Silva. In a match that will more than likely define their careers, the two men battered each other to a draw.

Roy Nelson KO'd Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in his last outing in Abu Dhabi. He may not be the greatest athlete in the UFC, but Nelson is a tough guy with a hard head and even harder fists to match. A call back to the original days of the organization, Nelson is a fighter who can hang with the best.

Both men being known as sluggers, it is a match fans have been asking for, for quiet a while. An unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. They are what MMA is all about. No trying to win rounds or catering to the ten point system. This will be a good old fashioned match up of who can throw the harder punches.

The card is being targeted for September. It can't come soon enough.
