Bellator Card Update

Bellator is now face to face with another Pay-per-view nightmare. For the second time their main event has been canceled due to injury. Originally planned as the the third go around between former lightweight champion Michael Chandler and current lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, it has been scrapped. To replace it the co-main event of Muhammad 'King Mo' Lawal vs Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson will take it's place.

Matt Brown's Win Streak Continues

Matt Brown and Erick Silva punished one another in their UFC Fight Night Main Event. Coming close to defeat in the first round due to a liver shot and attempted submission, Brown came back to win the fight. He put a brutal beating on Silva, until the referee stepped in for mercy.

Highlights from the fight are here.

A New Threat to Jones

Anthony Johnson has agreed to fight at UFC on Fox 12. My prediction of Johnson as a co-headliner for the eventual Alexander Gustaffson/Jon Jones rematch didn't happen. He will not be facing Daniel Cormier or Dan Henderson, but instead Antonio Rogerio Nogueria.

I agree with the pairing regardless. The UFC is attempting to add more names to Johnson's resumes in hopes that he can become another contender to Jon Jones' light heavyweight title.

UFC 175 is Stacked

UFC 175 will be held on July 5th in Las Vegas. It is quickly turning into the card of the year considering it's top tier match ups. Headlined by Lyoto Machida facing the Long Island gangster Chris Weidman for his middleweight title, it is an event also featuring a second title fight and the finale of a long running rivalry.

Machida wasn't always in the running for a title shot. Vitor Belfort relinquished his deserved number one contendership, due to the banning of TRT and the conflict as a user that caused him. After dominant victories over two top middleweights, Mark Munoz and Gerard Mousasi, Machida was asked to be his replacement.

Dos Santos Out

Junior Dos Santos broke his hand and will be removing himself from TUF Brazil 3 main event. Leaving Stipe Miocic without a top ten opponent. A sad turn of events since this was a match up that made sense.

Former UFC heavyweight champ, Junior Dos Santos has found himself to be the second best competitor in his division. In a rushed rubber match, Dos Santos lost to the current champion Cain Velasquez in a second one sided beating. A fourth bout won't happen anytime soon, so Dos Santos sits high above the rest of his competitors without a belt to wear.

Knocked Out Again

Former UFC star Pat Barry went down hard last night at Glory 16. Transitioning back to kickboxing after stepping away from MMA, Barry's return to the sport has been mixed. KO'ing Ed Burris in March at Combat Sports Challenge 39, his debut in Glory met with less success.

His opponent was Zack Mwekassa. It took him only a few minutes into the first round to end Barry's night. Watch the full fight here

The Match We've Been Waiting For

No, this isn't another article about the Alexander Gustafson and Jon Jones rematch. Instead I am turning my attention to the heavyweight division, in which rumor has it a Roy Nelson vs Mark Hunt fight is in the works.

Appropriately the match will take place in Japan. A country in which both their personalities and fighting style will be appreciated. Heavyweights with knockout power are main draws for Japanese audiences, not to mention their affinity for Hunt during his Pride days.
