The Champion Defends His Title

Tomorrow night light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones will defend his title against MMA's possible equivalent to Mike Tyson, Gloveria Teixeira. If it hasn't been expressed to fans this is THE fight to see.

Check out the build up to this match up here.
It would have benefited the UFC to have moved Teixeria along with the thought in mind to create their next star. This showdown being the culmination of their labor. They must have tried the best they could  working around injuries, plus pitting him against Quinton Rampage Jackson.

Imagine though if we were first introduced to this Tyson in Brazilian clothes in a pairing against Brandon Vera. A fading athlete still maintaing some resemblance of star power, to bring him in with a bang.

A long build up with a wrap sheet of Thiago Silva, Rampage Jackson, Mauricio Shogun Rua, Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans. This would have been the Super Bowl of UFC events. Oh well, we can't rewrite history. Teixeira has been on a bit of a tear in the UFC, regardless of who he faced, racking up five straight victories.

We could see title change hands come this weekend. This is one of Jones toughest tests, it'll be interesting to see how he handles it. I'll be watching.
