Cormier and Rousey Still Undefeated

Over the weekend Daniel Cormier and Ronda Rousey continued their unbeaten streaks. Both competed at UFC 170, walking away with dominant victories that combined lasted under three minutes. In two of the shortest main and co-main events in recent memory these combatants were able to put their opponents away early.

Rousey continued her dominance over a one woman division finishing Sara McMann in 1:06 of the first round with a liver shot. While Cormier was far from crying in his absolute mauling of one time training partner Patrick Cummins.

McMann was meant to present a challenge to Rousey, due to both being Olympic medalist, but the champion had different plans. Surprisingly it was her striking that ended the challenger's night, the part of her fighting game that had previously appeared the weakest. The win was not without controversy, many fans felt that the fight had been stopped too early. I don't agree, if you are dropped with a liver shot, you are done. Referee Herb Dean prevented McMann from taking any unneeded punishment. Take a look at the highlights.

Now that Rousey has racked a perfect 9-0 record, she sits alone on top the throne with the belt around her waist. Alex Davis seems to be getting the number one contender push, due to her preliminary, split decision win over Jessica Eye earlier in the night. It really speaks volumes about a division that a practical unknown can be launched into a main event bout for the title, after winning a fight in the preliminaries.

The more riveting pairing would be the super fight WMMA fans have been waiting for, Ronda Rousey vs Invicta champ, Cristiane 'Cyborg' Justino.

Justino has announced an intended move to 135 pounds, after splitting ways with her former manager, Tito Ortiz. If she does drop the weight, the UFC will need to acquire her and make this match happen. At the moment she is the only true threat to Rousey. For proof, watch the following thrashing she gave to Gina Carano.

There has been a feud brooding between them as well. Below Rousey gives her opinion on Cyborg Justino.

If this fight does actually happen, I would predict an end to Rousey' reign. A potential threat that Dana White will more than likely avoid, for as long as he can.

Ronda Rousey wasn't the only one to walk away with a brutal stoppage at UFC 170, Cormier crushed Cummins in only a minute and nineteen seconds.

Cummins was able to talk up the match well, but Cormier sure did finish it. With the win he announces himself as a new face to a short list of contenders, vying for Jon Jones' title. Up next, the winner of Phil Davis and Anthony Johnson would suffice. If not, depending on Rashad Evans' condition, maybe the UFC could try to put this match together again.

Regardless who they face Ronda Rousey and Daniel Cormier are riding high in their weight classes, with performances Saturday night that not only demanded the attention of the UFC, but from us.
